this is a drawing of Sogo Sogo, an orphaned orang utan that I've been sponsoring for a few years now. Her sanctuary is in Sabah, on the Malaysian side of Borneo. She is adoreable (and to the critics who say these creatures that are up for adoption are just fake, a money making scam, I have seen her and not everything is a scam! HA!). This is not my original reference pic, but is only practice - see this website [link] for original pic
I actually think about orang utans quite a lot, and have donated/run campaigns to raise awareness of their plight, but won't go into that here. If you're interested but don't know where to start, search 'sepilok' and you'll get one of the orangutan sanctuary webpages. I've never tried to draw one before now though... I'm quite happy with it Anyway.... This is a pen sketch (PEN! Terrifying to work with - what if you make a mistake??) on A5. At some point I'll finish it by adding the body and possibly a background, though i do hate drawing backgrounds Thanks for looking |
